A.R. Rahman To Perform At The Promise Of Music Global Congress On Music And Social Impact

The Glenn Gould Foundation has announced that internationally acclaimed composer and musician A.R. Rahman will participate in The Promise of Music, the inaugural global congress dedicated to exploring how music can drive social change. The landmark event will take place in Toronto from October 6–10, convening artists, visionaries, and cultural leaders from around the world.

On October 10, Rahman will take the stage with his celebrated Sufi band, offering audiences a musical journey steeped in spirituality and innovation. He will also introduce Jhalaa, India’s first raga-based contemporary music collective, which made its debut at the Waves Summit in Mumbai earlier this year. Developed under the Bharat Maestro Awards, Jhalaa showcases 12 young virtuosos,six male and six female,trained in Indian classical traditions and instruments, highlighting a new generation of musical talent.

The celebrations begin on October 9, with the Sunshine Orchestra, a youth ensemble from Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, making its Canadian debut. Comprising students from underserved communities, the orchestra reflects Rahman’s commitment to using music as a tool for empowerment and opportunity.
