India’s greenest circular music festival, Echoes of Earth, returns to Mumbai on November 15, 2025, with an evening that celebrates the city’s coastal and urban biodiversity through music, art, and meaningful conversations on conservation. Hosted at AntiSocial, this year’s edition revolves around the theme “The Sixth Sense”, an exploration of nature’s intuitive intelligence, communication, and harmony. The theme serves as a poetic reminder that many of humankind’s greatest innovations stem from the quiet genius of the natural world.
The festival has long been known for blurring the lines between art, ecology, and community, and this year’s Mumbai edition promises a deeply sensory journey, one that encourages audiences to see, hear, and feel the natural world in new ways.
Listening to the Wild Within the City
The evening opens with “Call of the Wild”, an interactive experience led by Kartik Chandramouli, multimedia editor and journalist, and Sejal Mehta, veteran writer and editor who has worked with Lonely Planet Magazine India, National Geographic Traveller India, and Nature inFocus. Together, they bring an immersive session that blends storytelling, quizzes, and sound-based discovery, revealing the hidden soundscape of Mumbai’s lesser-heard inhabitants, birds, insects, and other urban creatures.
Kartik Chandramouli explains,“Call of the Wild tunes you into the city’s natural performers, the birds, insects, and creatures that shape our hidden soundscape. It’s a playful mix of quiz, storytelling, and discovery that lets audiences experience the lesser-heard side of Mumbai.”
Adding to that, Sejal Mehta shares,“Call of the Wild encourages us to tune into the frequencies of our wilder neighbours, to use more than just our eyes to observe the urban wild. If we listen more, and understand how creatures around us communicate and behave, we might share space with much more enthusiasm.”
Their segment highlights how listening becomes an act of coexistence, reinforcing the festival’s ethos, that awareness and empathy are key to sustaining urban biodiversity.
A Virtual Safari by the Sea
Next on the lineup is “We Sense Sea Sense on the Seashore”, a visual storytelling showcase by Sahir Doshi, wildlife presenter, nature educator, writer, and rapper. Known for using hip-hop, social media, and shore walks to reconnect people with nature, Sahir transforms Mumbai’s coastline into a living classroom through vivid visuals, anecdotes, and live narration.
Describing his performance, Sahir says,“We Sense Sea Sense On The Seashore is a virtual safari down Mumbai's coastline in search of crazy creatures with even crazier features. By taking the time to understand each of these species, we start to unravel the story of our own relationship with the sea. Expect interesting animals, unlikely habitats, and a whole lot of hip-hop.”
Through this vibrant blend of music, education, and humor, Sahir spotlights the city’s marine biodiversity, from tidepool inhabitants to migratory species, while urging audiences to rethink their relationship with the sea.
A Sonic Finale: Shigeto Returns
The night culminates with an immersive live performance by Shigeto, the Detroit-based artist known for bridging jazz, electronica, and experimental sounds. His layered compositions, rich in IDM textures, dubstep sub-bass, and jazz melodicism ,offer the perfect conclusion to an evening devoted to the senses.
Reflecting on his return to India, Shigeto shares,“Every show I’ve ever played in India has been unforgettable, especially the one in 2019 at Echoes of Earth. I’m looking forward to making new memories soon, this time with the multi-versed artist KESSWA and one of the funkiest guys I know, Tim Shellabarger (Will Sessions).”
Music, Mindfulness, and Coexistence
Since its inception, Echoes of Earth has stood as a platform for sustainability and storytelling, bridging knowledge and creativity to build awareness about conservation. The festival’s Mumbai edition continues this legacy, merging science with sound, and art with activism, to foster a dialogue between human innovation and nature’s timeless intelligence.
As Mumbai’s coastline and concrete jungles meet through sound, light, and learning, “The Sixth Sense” promises not just a concert, but a conscious experience, one that awakens curiosity, deepens mindfulness, and celebrates coexistence.
The evening reaffirms what Echoes of Earth has always stood for: that harmony with nature is not a distant ideal, it’s a rhythm we can still dance to.
