A day after the audio release of Shyama Anna struck a chord with listeners across the world, Mantra Roots has unveiled the official music video for global kirtan artist Premanjali Dasi’s debut single. The visual re-imagining amplifies the song’s devotional spirit, offering audiences a deeper, more immersive entry into her artistic world.
Premanjali, born into an Australian family grounded in Bhakti traditions, has emerged as a conscious music artist who moves fluidly across cultures and genres. Shyama Anna, released under Mantra Roots, is her contemporary interpretation of a traditional bhajan,a sonic offering that transforms devotional longing into a meditative, modern invocation.
Set against the picturesque Kerala backwaters, the video frames Premanjali’s connection with nature and divinity through sweeping visuals. Blooming lilies, still waters, and lush landscapes reflect the serenity that anchors the track, echoing the song’s themes of surrender, remembrance, and inner stillness.
“Shyama Anna is deeply personal to me,” Premanjali said in a statement. “The audio expresses devotion, but the video let me visually honour the hymns I grew up with. Bringing together influences from bhajans and kirtans to jazz, blues, and Bollywood felt like weaving all parts of my musical identity.”
While her musical roots lie firmly in Bhakti, Premanjali’s evolution has been shaped by a diverse palette of global sounds. That blend of heritage and experimentation comes through clearly in Shyama Anna, which bridges traditional devotional music with contemporary production and a global sensibility.
With both the audio and visual versions of her debut single now out, Premanjali is preparing to release her next track, one she says will showcase yet another side of her expanding artistic landscape.
The official Shyama Anna music video is now available on YouTube, while the audio version is streaming across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other major platforms.
