Renowned entertainment lawyer and artist rights advocate Priyanka Khimani has joined music tech startup Songpact as Co-Founder and Strategic Advisor, signaling a major push in the platform’s mission to modernize and democratize music contracts. In her new role, Khimani will lead Songpact’s global expansion and strategic partnerships, bringing her deep expertise in entertainment law and creative ecosystems to reshape how artists, businesses, and rights holders engage with contracts.
Best known for championing artists’ rights across music, film, and television, Khimani has long pushed for equitable, transparent frameworks in the entertainment industry. At Songpact, she aims to extend this mission at scale, helping the platform expand into international markets while tailoring it to the specific needs of local creators.
“This isn’t just about digitizing contracts,” said Khimani. “It’s about reimagining the entire business affairs infrastructure for the modern music economy , making it smarter, faster, more intuitive, and accessible. Songpact brings together the speed and intelligence today’s creators need, without compromising on quality or fairness.”
Khimani highlighted the core challenge facing the industry today,“The music industry doesn’t have a talent gap. It has an access and affordability gap. Contracts are the bedrock of what is now one of the most valuable asset classes globally. For too long, navigating rights and negotiations has been a privilege for a few , not a right for all. With Songpact, we have a real opportunity to change that. We’re building tools that speak the language of creators and make professional-grade contract management inclusive and scalable.”
Her appointment underscores Songpact’s ambition to stay ahead of the curve in a fast-evolving global music landscape. The platform, which launched in January 2025, enables creators and their teams to generate, negotiate, and sign legally robust music contracts within minutes ,all in one collaborative interface.
“Music contracts haven’t evolved at the pace of the industry,” said Songpact CEO and Co-Founder Nick Weaser. “Artists are moving fast, across genres and geographies, but the infrastructure meant to support them is still stuck in the past. Priyanka is a game-changer , she brings unmatched credibility, legal insight, and the ability to execute transformative solutions across borders. With her as Co-Founder, we’re not just building better tools ,we’re shaping a fairer, smarter future for music.”
Khimani’s impact spans far beyond legal circles. She’s been recognized on Billboard’s 2025 Top Music Lawyers list and its 2023 Women in Music list. She also serves on the boards of global music tech companies Songtradr and Beatdapp and leads Women of Music India (WoMI), a non-profit empowering women in the Indian music ecosystem.
With Khimani’s leadership, Songpact aims to become the go-to contract platform for the next generation of creators , removing friction, improving access, and building equity into the foundation of the music industry.
