“Faith, Music And Culture Will Anchor Delhi’s Tourism Revival,” Says Kapil Mishra

Delhi is set to reframe its tourism narrative by placing spirituality, music and cultural heritage at the heart of its revival strategy. The Delhi Government plans to actively promote religious tourism alongside emerging cultural formats such as “bhajan clubbing”, signalling a shift towards experience-led, faith-based travel.

Delhi tourism minister Kapil Mishra shared the roadmap on Friday while speaking at a private event on the sidelines of the Tourism Summit 2026 in Chennai. He said the initiative aims to create a spiritually immersive and culturally rooted tourism ecosystem for residents as well as domestic and international visitors.

According to Mishra, the strategy focuses on curating structured religious routes across the Capital to make darshan more accessible, modernising key landmarks with visitor-friendly amenities, and encouraging tourism experiences that go beyond sightseeing. He noted that with India rapidly becoming a global hub for religious tourism, Delhi is well-positioned to play a larger role due to its diverse spiritual and cultural landscape.

A key emphasis of the plan is improving ease of access and the overall visitor experience. The Government intends to develop interconnected religious circuits linking temples, shrines and places of worship through upgraded roads, clearer signage and improved last-mile connectivity, offering smoother journeys and deeper engagement with the city’s spiritual life.
