Grammy Awards 2026: Anoushka Shankar, Siddhant Bhatia And Charu Suri Earn Nominations But Miss Out On Wins

At the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny clinched the Best Global Music Performance trophy for his song “EoO,” edging past Indian sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar and other international nominees. Bad Bunny’s win came during the Grammy Premiere Ceremony, a prelude to music’s biggest night where 86 awards were presented across diverse categories.

Anoushka Shankar was nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category for her track “Daybreak,” featuring Alam Khan and Sarathy Korwar, from her acclaimed album Chapter III: We Return to Light. While the nomination reaffirmed her status as one of the most celebrated Indian artists at the Grammys, she ultimately lost the award to Bad Bunny’s “EoO,” which drew acclaim for its global fusion appeal.

India saw several artists recognized with nominations this year, including the jazz fusion band Shakti, pianist Charu Suri, and composer Siddhant Bhatia, but none secured a Grammy win. Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia’s Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo took home Best Global Music Album, while Bad Bunny’s success in the performance category marked a standout moment of the ceremony for international music.

The Best Global Music Performance category featured a competitive lineup, with nominees including Ciro Hurtado (Cantando en el Camino), Angélique Kidjo (JERUSALEMA), Yeisy Rojas (Inmigrante Y Que?), Shakti (Shrini’s Dream (Live)) and Shankar’s “Daybreak.” Bad Bunny’s “EoO” ultimately prevailed, underscoring his growing influence across global music circles.

The Grammy Awards have increasingly spotlighted global sounds that transcend borders, and this year’s results reflected a broad range of cultural influences. However, despite notable nominations from Indian artists, the night concluded without a win for India’s representatives in the global music categories.
